Subject: Our Deepest Sympathies - Mrs.Griffs

Mrs.Griffs' funeral took place yesterday, with about a dozen Antonians present to farewell the 100 year old Grand Lady, who served St.Anthony's College as a Matron and second Mother to the Boarders for over 20 years.

On a positive note, Fr.Hillarian Fernando the immediate past Principal of College administered the service and did a fine job too. He said that he was humbled to be able to conduct a service for such a lady.

Here below are some of the tributes sent via email from fellow Antonians.

Thank you for informing about the sad news about our late dearly beloved Matron Mrs. Griffs who was blessed by our Lord with a long life of over 100 years. Please do me a favor and convey my deepest sympathies to all her family members, Tony and others. My prayers for the repose of her soul are assured and that of my wife's and children. I have often spoken to my family and told them what a wonderful individual she was to us - Antonian Boarders in the 1960's and early 1970's.

Warm Regards,
Lt. Col. (Retd.) Shane Balthazaar

Thanks Chris. Sad but a truly great life of service as the boarders will readily vouch.

Please convey my deepest sympathies to Tony; She served everybody so silently-she is remembered by many of us who were fortunate to be disciplined in all our day to day chores-she will rest in the hands of God peacefully.A great lady with a big heart!

Very sad news to hear that Mrs Griffs passed away. I recall the days we spent with her as Boarders. Our moulding certainly came from people like Mrs Griffs.
May she be blessed with heavenly peace.
